I don’t get the Ed hate either.

I mean, we’ve seen even less of him than we have Kaito and know even less about him. So we can’t fully understand his motivations or anything so it doesn’t seem fair to fully judge him yet.

Yet I’m still seeing ‘cry baby’ (lol wut?) and ‘whiner’ and stuff being flung around.

He’s only been in one full episode(everything else is just snippets so far), his duel with Yuya, so like, give him a chance maybe. We’ll learn more eventually.

That is one hell of a way to word things and says a lot.

Personally, I feel like he’s heavily conflicted and trying to convince himself that Academia is right. Yusho’s duelling made something in him waver, something in him is questioning Academia’s ideals and if they’re truly right. But of course, a good soldier doesn’t question their orders. So he can’t allow himself to be thinking that. So if he defeats Yusho(and/or Yuya now) he can prove to himself that Academia is ight.

And it’s frustrating him. He’s not whining, he’s being frustrated with himself and his thoughts and his inability to beat Yuya/Yusho.

I for one am quite interested to see where this goes.
